How to manage your DNS records

DNS records control how your domain works — where your website loads, where email is delivered, and more. You can manage them in cPanel.

Opening the Zone Editor

  1. Log in to cPanel and, under Domains, click Zone Editor.
  2. Click Manage next to your domain.

Common record types

  • A record — points a name to an IP address.
  • CNAME — points a name to another name (for example www to your domain).
  • MX — tells the internet which server handles your email.
  • TXT — used for SPF, DKIM and domain verification.

Adding a record

Click + Add Record, choose the type, fill in the details and save. Changes take a little while to propagate. If you're unsure, ask our team before changing MX or A records — mistakes can interrupt your site or email.
