How to use the cPanel File Manager

The File Manager in cPanel lets you upload, edit and organise your website files right from your browser — no separate FTP program needed.

Opening File Manager

  1. Log in to cPanel from your client area.
  2. In the Files section, click File Manager.
  3. Your website lives in the public_html folder — that's what visitors see when they go to your domain.

Uploading files

  1. Open public_html and click Upload in the toolbar.
  2. Drag your files in, or click to browse.
  3. Uploading a whole site? Upload it as a single .zip, then select it and click Extract — it's much faster.

Editing a file

Right-click any file and choose Edit (or Code Edit for HTML and PHP) to make changes in your browser, then click Save Changes.
